Hi, I'm Brendan!

I'm the designer and maker of the eko sensory tool.

I have had a mental health journey myself and I always struggled at school to focus and concentrate. I was even part of the wellbeing centre for nealry all the way through private schooling as it was very hard dealing with my mental health. I found I was always fidgeting in class and I struggled to keep my calmness and composure especially when doing tests.

I found a fascination for product design when I was young, and after doing support work for 2 years, I started to realise the importance of sensory needs for everyone that I worked with, so I thought of creating the eko to help people find the equanimity whilst in learning environments.

Turns. Twirls. Breath.

The central gear (with cogs) can be continually turned clockwise or anti-clockwise inside the base. This assists with focus and concentration and can help calm anxiety.

Twirling the gear on top of the base helps you to center yourself in what’s known as a ‘flow state’. A ‘flow state’ describes a mental state in which a person is completely focused on a single task or activity. It provides clarity and helps to filter out distractions. Twirling your eko helps maintain calmness and composure.

The breath helps with releasing stress and anxiety can also be useful feature for meditation.
